Songs I’m working on:
For the October 14th drag show – Come Little Children by Erutan but known by its use in the movie Hocus Pocus.
Journey to the Past, by Liz Calloway but known by its use in the movie Anastasia, 1997. NOT a Disney movie. Although I heard Disney now owns it.
Besides performing this in a drag show, I’m using Journey to the Past as a tryout piece for a solo for our Spectrum Singers choir concert in December. The song is perfectly in line with the theme of finding home. It is suited to my soprano voice. I really want to do a solo. I’m a sucker for the spotlight.
And for the November 7 Spook-tacular fundraiser that benefits our choir, I’m using Come Little Children, because it’s so creepy. It’s about witches luring children away to eat them. I ordered a stunning 100-dollar gown off temu – we’ll see how it looks in person. I also ordered an elaborate witch hat. Temu has fucking everything.
The other song I’m working on is Janis Joplin’s Piece of my Heart. Her voice is radically different from mine, but I am putting my own spin on it, my own vocals. It’s just a matter of hitting the notes.
