When my floor installer ripped out the carpet, beautiful 50 year old hardwood was revealed. Fucking boomers.
It’s in excellent condition, just needs cleaned up, sanded, and sealed. Something I can easily hire out.
Even if I wanted my new flooring, they can’t continue with the project because the hallway portion had some kind of linoleum under the carpet. It might be sealed in with asbestos. I have to get an asbestos inspection and they will also remove it. Then I basically have to decide if I want my new flooring or not. I am leaning toward not and restoring that hardwood. It’s a pain in the ass and requires more intensive upkeep which is why boomers covered over their hardwood with carpet. But if take the new flooring, they have to level it with cement and the hardwood would be lost forever. My mom and brother both say I’d be crazy to do that.
I’d save a lot of money too. I would get my money back from Lowes for their flooring and installation. Save 2000 dollars.
Overall, more hassle. But it all adds up to the same thing…preparing for a move.
